Book Summary

Dan wanted to head outside. His mother tried to convince him. The real reason Sam was indoors was because of his neighbor Bill. However, Sam listened to his mom and eventually went outside to play.

It was not long before Bill made Dan want to go back inside. However, there was a strange voice coming from somewhere. It turned out Snowman Paul wanted his head on his body. Paul was alive and now Dan had a new friend.

Bill was not a nice boy. In a way, he was kind of a bully. What I loved about My Snowman, Paul is that the focus of this book was more on Dan and not that he was being bullied. The children who read this book can focus on a positive message of being a friend.

My Snowman, Paul is an introduction to what a good friend can be. After reading this book, talk to kids about what it means to be a good friend. The way this book is written is open-ended and helps introduce kids to the power of a good friend.

Bottom Line

I have read the kids many books about friendship. While they all had a great lesson to learn, they also had a lot of focus on the bully and the negative. I like how My Snowman, Paul touches upon the bully but focuses mainly on the beginning of the friendship between Dan and Paul.
