We loved SMATH. It was a fun way for the older kids to review what they are learning in math. As an added bonus, this game can be customized. I liked adding this game to our math routine.
What are some ways your family makes math review fun?
Pros: easy to customize, easy to learn, fun to play, better than doing worksheets, multiple player, great for math center
Education: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, parentheses, math properties review
Hidden Learning: In addition to figuring out how to make your equation, you have to calculate your totals. This is a great way to make sure you know all of your addition facts.
Cons: The actual board would not unfold so nicely. It needed some weight to hold it down. Once it was all set up, we were good to go.
My Overall Opinion: SMATH was fun. I could give the kids worksheets, but games are better. SMATH encouraged the kids to use critical thinking and observation skills as they tried to collect the most points. Of course learning is better through toys and games, so this game was a winner during math time. The best part, it can be customized. We can use it from 2nd grade through middle school.
