If you are looking to add some alternatives into your diets, check out this book dedicated to the Sweet Potato.
For the past few years, we have been looking to add more fruits and vegetables into our diet. Sweet Potato has not been something we eat a lot of so finding a cookbook dedicated to the one food we lack, this was a good one. This cookbook starts off with an introduction to the Sweet Potato. I did not know how to properly store them let alone all of the variety they come in. After getting to know all about the Sweet Potato it was time to cook them.
I was very impressed with this book. There are so many ways to enjoy this root vegetable. From Sweet Potato Ravioli to Sweet Potato Doughnuts, you can literally add them to anything and everything you already enjoy.
I loved how each recipe had an inspiration and a story. As you go through this cookbook, you will not only find a recipe but a reason why the author chose to add the Sweet Potatoes.
Not all of the recipes are healthy. When I read the title Sweet Potato I thought this would be a healthy cookbook, however, I was wrong. If you are creative you can have fun, however, they do use flour and sugar. Some of the recipes are super healthy. Just if you are taking certain foods out of your diet, this is something you should be aware of.
If you have read any of my past cookbook reviews, I am a fan of images. Not all of the recipes in this cookbook had a photograph to match the dish.
My Overall Opinion
As I have reduced flour and processed sugars from my diet, this cookbook was not 100% for me. However, I did find some great sources of inspiration. I enjoyed learning all about the Sweet Potato and seeing what I can do with it. I also found some recipes that will be fun to add to our holiday dinners. As with every cookbook, this had some foods that appealed to our pallet and some that did not. Overall, I am very happy and will be trying to add more Sweet Potato dishes to our meals.
